Supporting the community at Christmas

Nether Stowey School and St John and St Francis Church School

We were delighted to take Nether Stowey School and St John and St Francis Church School choirs on 2 trips to the Hinkley Point C site this week.

The choirs were picked up at their schools accompanied by members of the EDF Visits Team and with Santa at the wheel of the bus! They visited each of the 4 welfare units at the site, led by Site Chaplain Ewen Huffman, and performed a full repetoire of Christmas songs and carols to the delight of the watching workforce.

The children were treated to lunch while they marveled at the sight of Big Carl (the worlds largest land based crane) out the window and chattered excitedly.

The children continued to sing all the way back on the bus at the end of the school day.  An experience they will not forget and a day that warmed the hearts who heard them perform and joined in the singing.

Salvation Army Band

On Wednesday 13th December, Santa collected the the Salvation Army Band and transported them to Hinkley Point C followed by a minibus full of shiny brass musical instruments!!

The band visited East and West Welfare units performing in the canteens for the workforce as well as performing outside the South building. The day concluded with a performance outside the North building where the gathered workforce were also treated to performances by the site Romanian Choir. A few verses of Silent Night and Joy to the World were sung in Romanian! A perfect end to a wonderful visit.

The band were safely delivered back to the Salvation Army Hall by Santa with all band members and their instruments intact!
