Proud to support International Women’s Day 2024

Today is International Women’s Day 💜

International Women’s Day is a global day for sharing the achievements of women, raising awareness about discrimination, and encouraging us to consider gender equality in all areas of our life, including the workplace.

Within SPS we are lucky to be surrounded by many successful, strong, and inspirational women, some of whom you will see in our video below.

Celebrating our own amazing women at SPS

Today we are celebrating the vital role that women are playing at SPS, in supporting the HPC project, while shaping the future of the transport and nuclear industries. Featuring colleagues from across SPS, take a moment to watch our video starring some of the amazing women who make our team shine!

With thanks to our cast members:

The theme of this year’s campaign is Inspiring Inclusion

When we inspire others to understand and value women’s inclusion, we forge a better world. And when women themselves are inspired to be included, there’s a sense of belonging, relevance, and empowerment. Each one of us can actively support and inspire inclusion within our own sphere of influence, at work or at home.

How do we inspire inclusion at SPS?

We asked some of our colleagues how they pledge to support inclusion and here is what they had to say….

The Department for Transport has set a target of women making up 30% of the transport workforce by 2030. For SPS, meeting this target will bring a range of benefits. It will make our business stronger as we will benefit from the different skills and fresh perspectives that this brings.

We are fully backing these efforts by actively encouraging more women to consider transport as a career – and by supporting our female team members already working at SPS.

Did you know?

  • 24% of colleagues at SPS are female. This is 4% higher than 2022
  • 14% of our drivers are female
  • 41% of managers at SPS are female
  • 50% of our leadership team are female

We still have some work to do in a few areas of the business to meet the target and we are committed to achieve this.

Together we can forge women’s equality. Collectively we can all #InspireInclusion.

Thank you for your support in making SPS a gender equal business, where everyone is welcome and can be their true selves.

Happy International Women’s Day to you all 💜.
