Staff raise over £990 at Macmillan Coffee & Cake Event

Somerset Passenger Solutions proudly supported Macmillan’s ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’ by organising a Coffee & Cake Day on 24 September.

There were a variety of delicious cakes on offer lovingly baked and donated from staff across the organisation.

A big thank you to the event host Kate Turner (a Driver at SPS) who made the the vast majority of the cakes and organised the event. Thanks to the generosity and support of SPS staff, a huge £990.03 was raised. This will all go to Macmillan Cancer Support.

There are around 3 million people living with cancer in the UK today. Macmillan provide physical, financial and emotional support. Due to the pandemic, they have faced a huge drop in income.

Star Baker, Kate Turner said:

“Oh wow! I am so proud of you all. All who baked cakes, thank you! All that came with pockets full of money to buy cakes, thank you! All those that helped get the cakes to where they needed to be, thank you! From the people that promoted the event, to the people putting up bunting balloons and people giving up their days off to come and help me, thank you!”.

Bex Sinclair, People Director, said:

“We were thrilled to take part in the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning. MacMillan is a fantastic cause and it was great to see so many colleagues come along and support the event. The amount SPS staff have  raised will make a huge difference to the lives of the people in our local, work and wider community who are living with cancer.
