SPS scoops FIVE awards at HPC Excellence Awards

Success for SPS at HPC Awards

Somerset Passenger Solutions was proud to take home FIVE awards at the prestigious HPC Excellence Awards.

The annual HPC Excellence Awards celebrates work on the Hinkley Point C project across three themes of Project Delivery, People & Behaviours and Workforce. Finalists, their nominators and senior leaders gathered at the event at the Winter Gardens in Weston Super Mare on Wednesday 15th November 2023 and got an insight into individuals, teams and supplier’s achievements.

Following two rounds of judging, SPS was chosen as the winner of the following awards.

GOLD Award – Outstanding Supplier

This is the second year in succession SPS has been recognised with a gold award in this category.

Simon Cursio, Managing Director, said:

“This demonstrates the great work and dedication our colleagues strive to achieve every day. The quality of suppliers and what they bring to a nuclear standard environment is exceptionally high, and so this is testament to the quality and standard our colleagues bring each and every day to what they do”.

GOLD Award – Commitment to Safety

It was also a great night for our Night Supervisor team who won the Gold Award for Commitment to Safety. Congratulations to Simon Greene, Declan Meaker, Kirstie Atkinson, Billy Lakatos and Karol Kuchik. The team were involved in a road traffic incident and showed terrific presence of mind and commitment to safety to those involved and other road users.

GOLD Award – Going Above & Beyond

Our dedicated Chaplain Chris Pollard won the Gold Award for Going Above and Beyond. Chris gives so much to our business and is an ambassador for the promotion of positive mental health and wellbeing.

SILVER Award – Community Contribution

The recognition didn’t end there, with our Community Causes team being presented with the Silver Award for their contributions to the community. A dedicated team who has raised over £10,000 so far this year for causes in the community close to the hearts of many of our colleagues and do so with unselfish dedication to helping support local people.

BRONZE Award – Health, Safety & Environment

Our SHE team were recognised for their dedication to safety being awarded a Bronze for Health, Safety and Environment performance.

There was also a special commendation award recognising those on the project who went above and beyond in the aftermath of the January 17th bus incident. We’re delighted that Andre Korreman and Chris Pollard from SPS were among the recipients.

Simon Cursio, Managing Director, said:

“This recognition rounds off a fantastic year for SPS, as the business continues to grow, and we hope to exceed the expectations of our client and passengers once again in 2024”.
