SPS Vehicle Maintenance Team scoops HPC Pride of Platform award for highest level of Safety

The Vehicle Maintenance Team at Somerset Passenger Solutions are proud to be named winners in the HPC Pride of Platform Awards, which took place on 20 January 2022.

The Pride of Platforms initiative at Hinkley Point C recognises and rewards the best platforms on site and teams who go above and beyond to deliver their work to the highest safety standards and welfare practices.

SPS was chosen as the winner in the Operational Support category based on their demonstration of good signage, clear access arrangements and welfare facilities, as well as a great focus on health, safety, and the environment. This is well deserved recognition from the HPC project and highlights the highest level of safety standards that have been achieved.  This is another fantastic achievement for SPS who also scooped 2 awards in at the HPC Excellence Awards in November 2021.

SPS provides a bespoke transport solution for the HPC Project, carrying almost all people who go to the construction site either for work or to visit. SPS transport thousands of clients to and from the construction site every day, working 24/7 to ensure that construction remains on schedule.

The state-of-the-art 10 bay vehicle maintenance facility is fully equipped with modern engineering equipment and staffed with its own in-house engineering team that work 24/7 offering support to the transport operations and roadside assistance for the fleet.

Martin Webb, Head of Business Services said: “We beat tough competition from many great teams. So much hard work and commitment has gone into ensuring the unit is safe, secure and a great place to work”.

Simon Cursio, Managing Director said: “Im hugely proud of the team, who have worked tirelessly and been committed to adhering to the high standards of safety and welfare required. This award, and HPC Excellence Award we won in November, is a testament to all of the people at SPS and their individual and collective efforts.  Congratulations to all the winners and runners up!”
